This one was our honeymoon.

We started in Vancouver, BC, and made our way down the Pacific Coast, in our usual way, Shan running, me biking alongside with the trailer. 

​

It was also our hardest trip yet.

​

​About two weeks in, food poisoning slowed us down. Then I ended up at urgent care in Tillamook with muscle spasms so bad I couldn't sleep. And then further down the road, in Dunes City, Shan’s knee swelled badly enough that we cut one day down to only 15 miles and then stayed put for two nights. 

​

There were plenty of other challenges along the way, but none of them ended the trip. We adjusted the mileage, took the extra rest when we needed it, and kept working our way south. There were plenty of lows, but also sunset after sunset, spectacular stretches of coastline, and a lot of time together. We were tired, occasionally battered, and still loving the adventure.

Fifty-seven days after leaving Vancouver, we rolled into Imperial Beach with 1,930 miles of coastline, farmland and redwoods behind us.

 

Not exactly the traditional honeymoon.

But very much ours. :)
